Our vibrant campus is in the heart of the North West of England, close to the market town of Ormskirk and the lively cities of Liverpool and Manchester.
The town offers a relaxed atmosphere for our students with various options for eating out as well as a growing nightlife with bars, pubs and clubs to suit all budgets. There are also plenty of shops, historical landmarks and green spaces to explore.
Ormskirk is also an ideal location for exploring the rest of the UK. Whether you are looking for countryside or city life as your next destination, many locations are easily accessible within 1-2 hours. Leave M6 at junction 26 and join M58. Leave M58 at junction 3, taking the A570 towards Southport and Ormskirk.
You should see signs for ‘Edge Hill University’ when you leave the motorway. From junction 3 the journey is 2.8 miles and takes approximately 5 minutes.
The campus can also be reached from Preston or Liverpool via the A59.
If using an online route planner or sat nav, please note that the university postcode is L39 4QP. Please check that the route provided arrives via the main entrance on St Helens Road.
By rail
The nearest train station to Edge Hill University is Ormskirk train station.
Via Preston: from Preston Station take train direct to Ormskirk Station.
From Ormskirk station you can get to the campus in a variety of ways:
Bus: From Ormskirk train station take the pedestrian walkway to Ormskirk bus station and connect with the Edge Link bus for a direct route to campus.
Walk: Turn right from the station and walk up the road you are on, Station Approach. At the top turn left, then first right. Walk along Stanley Street and Knowsley Road, across two junctions, until you reach the main St Helens Road. Turn left and continue until you reach the Campus. This will take around 20 minutes. Taxi: There are 24-hour taxi services opposite the station entrance.
Edge Link bus
Our EL1 Bus Service runs at 20 minute intervals from Ormskirk bus station to Edge Hill University and back throughout the day. There is no service on Sundays or Bank Holidays.
This service is financially supported by Edge Hill University and operated by Stagecoach.

Journey Assistance Cards
Journey Assistance Cards are available from Stagecoach to use on the Edge Link and other Stagecoach services if you need a bit more help when using the bus. They can be shown to the bus driver to let them know what extra help you need, including for:
Liverpool Airport is smaller and mainly flies within Europe including UK destinations such as Derry/Londonderry, Isle of Man, Jersey, and Newquay
Manchester airport is larger and caters for more flights inside Europe and further afield. You can also fly directly from Manchester to London Heathrow which takes approximately 1 hour. London Heathrow has a wide variety of flights departing to all parts of the world.
In addition to programmes delivered in Ormskirk, a number of study centres offer the opportunity to study Edge Hill University courses throughout the North West, Shropshire and further afield.
