Rural South Election 2024

The Rural South Election 2024 is happening on campus on Thursday 2 May. If you live on campus, you can register to vote in this election.

Voting on campus

On Thursday 2 May, you can vote any time between 7am – 8pm. The polling station will be situated at Sages, The Hub. You must have registered to vote and arrive at the polling station with a form of photographic identification.

Photographic identification

The government has made it a requirement to bring a form of photographic identification when voting. Valid forms of identification include:

  • Passport issued by the UK, any of the Channel Islands, the Isle of Man, a British Overseas Territory, an EEA state or a Commonwealth country (including an Irish Passport Card)
  • Driving licence issued by the UK, any of the Channel Islands, the Isle of Man, or an EEA state (this includes a provisional driving licence)
  • A Blue Badge
  • Older Person’s Bus Pass funded by the Government of the United Kingdom
  • Disabled Person’s Bus Pass funded by the Government of the United Kingdom
  • Oyster 60+ Card funded by the Government of the United Kingdom
  • Freedom Pass
  • Scottish National Entitlement Card
  • 60 and Over Welsh Concessionary Travel Card
  • Disabled Person’s Welsh Concessionary Travel Card
  • Senior SmartPass issued in Northern Ireland
  • Registered Blind SmartPass or Blind Person’s SmartPass issued in Northern Ireland
  • War Disablement SmartPass issued in Northern Ireland
  • 60+ SmartPass issued in Northern Ireland
  • Half Fare SmartPass issued in Northern Ireland
  • Identity card bearing the Proof of Age Standards Scheme hologram (a PASS card)
  • Biometric immigration document
  • Ministry of Defence Form 90 (Defence Identity Card)
  • National identity card issued by an EEA state
  • Electoral Identity Card issued in Northern Ireland
  • Voter Authority Certificate
  • Anonymous Elector’s Document

Please note your student ID card is not a valid form of photographic identification.

You will only need to bring one form of identification to vote.

If you don’t have any accepted form of photographic ID, you can apply for a free voter ID document (Voter Authority Certification). You will need to register to vote before applying for a Voter Authority Certificate.
