These courses are a suite of extracurricular evening language courses aimed at students, staff, and members of the community who wish to learn a new language or build on existing knowledge of a language.

Language Course VLE
All course participants will have access to the organisation on Blackboard where tutors will upload accompanying resources and materials. Details of the organisation will be sent to you in advance of the start date of the course.
Course book
Your tutor may recommend a course book to accompany and complement your learning.
Films
Playlists of films in different languages will be available for you to watch free of charge via Box of Broadcasts. These playlists will be published on the Blackboard organization but will only be available to registered Edge Hill students and members of staff.

Will I get a certificate on completion of the course?
Our language courses are non-credit bearing, so you will not receive a certificate although we can issue a letter to confirm your attendance on the course. If you require a letter of confirmation, please contact the Language Centre Administrator. This can be posted to your address.
What do I need for the sessions?
You will need a notepad and pen to make notes. It is also useful to have your smartphone or tablet to hand.
What if I sign up and pay for a course, and it is subsequently cancelled?
Courses can only run subject to viable numbers. If you sign up for a course and it is subsequently cancelled, you will receive notification by email and a full refund.
Can I park on the campus?
Yes, as our classes take place in the evening, you are free to park on the campus. You will not require a permit to park.
Where will my class take place?
All face-to-face classes will take place on our Ormskirk campus. The Language Centre Administrator will contact you in advance of the start date of the course with confirmation of the room and building where your course will take place. You will also be sent a campus map. Once rooms have been allocated, this information will also appear on the individual page for your chosen course under Course Details.
Why is Mandarin not offered as an evening course?
The Language Centre does not offer Mandarin as an evening course because this is offered by our Confucius Institute. For further information please visit The Confucius Institute.
