The Department of Computer Science is based in our state-of-the-art £13m Tech Hub. This purpose-built development offers outstanding contemporary facilities for computing, IT and mathematics students as well as our engineering and physics students.
In our Tech Hub you will find specialist modern laboratories containing comprehensive test and measurement equipment, you’ll find high-specification computers, high-resolution screens and the latest hardware and software alongside our Harvard style lecture theatre.
Our four-screen CAVE (Computer Augmented Virtual Environment) provides a super immersive 3D virtual environment, enabling users to immerse themselves in a virtual room and experience real life scenarios in 4K resolution.
Computer Science learning resources include robots and a robotics simulator, wired and wireless networking hardware, graphics software, web development tools, software development environments, big data servers, eye trackers, giant 3D interactive teaching screens, and use the latest software and hardware to develop relevant industrial skills.
As a mathematics student you will have access to a variety of mathematics software to support your learning, including Microsoft EXCEL, SPSS software, Autograph and Microsoft Mathematics. Graphics Calculators will also be available to loan from the Catalyst building, home to our library and learning spaces that’s open 24/7 during term-time.
