Second Field of Nursing Postgraduate Diplomas
Our two-year MSc Nursing programmes provide a route for graduates to gain eligibility to register with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) as a professionally-qualified nurse.
Our programmes combine extensive practice opportunities with collaborative learning informed by service users, carers and their families. There is a range of MSc pathways available, enabling you to train in adult nursing, children’s nursing, learning disability nursing or mental health nursing. We’ll equip you with the field-specific competencies required to achieve national outcomes.
Alternatively, if you’re a qualified nurse holding current registration with the NMC, you can train with us in a second field of nursing. Our PGDip Nursing courses, one-year full-time, enable you to undertake an additional professional role in adult nursing, children’s nursing, learning disability nursing or mental health nursing, and achieve dual registration.

The Faculty of Health and Social Care is one of the leading providers of education and training for health and social care professionals in the North West of England.
The innovative £14m Faculty of Health and Social Care building provides outstanding teaching and learning resources. These include leading edge clinical skills facilities, ten teaching rooms, an 860-seat lecture theatre and a number of social learning spaces.
The clinical skills facilities include ward simulations and operating theatres with industry standard equipment, as well as robot-style mannequins that can simulate a wide range of symptoms, from pregnancy to a temperature, to ensure your learning experience is as realistic as possible.
