Black History Month
This year’s Black History Month events, workshops, exhibitions and resources aim to enhance awareness, champion equity, diversity and inclusion, highlight support and to celebrate Black joy and achievements.
Here at Edge Hill University we’re celebrating Black History Month 2024 with a wide range of activities in October. Kicking off with our BHM Cultural Festival on Tuesday 15 October, celebrating local Black-owned businesses, selling arts, crafts, food, drink, jewellery, beauty and healthcare products. As part of this event, there will also be free authentic Ethiopian food supplied by Abyssinia Kitchen, and traditional Ghanaian dance and drum performances from Movema.

The group is open to all staff who share an interest in the continual promotion of EDI and for those who wish to be part of a supportive community for knowledge exchange about race-related subjects. The group meets three times a year.
The first meeting on 2024/25 will take place in November. If you would like to get involved please email Sara Ainscow.
