Geography and geology graduates have a variety of careers available to them, including sustainability and the environment, consultancy, heritage, civil service, teaching, town and country planning, transport planning, waste and recycling, exploration and surveying and engineering to name a few. Geoscientists can make a difference to our world and will be crucial in meeting society’s future challenges, be that through the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, the Paris Agreement to avoid dangerous climate change, or through other important policies to protect the environment and ensure the availability of vital resources for all. Develop – Developing skills and experience
If you already have some career ideas, the next step will be to develop your skills and gain some experience to build your confidence and increase your knowledge. You may want to consider volunteering, part-time work or undertaking a placement to increase your chances of gaining graduate employment after completing your degree. It’s also a great way to try-out career paths to see what you enjoy and if it’s a good fit for you.
