If you are an international student and have an IELTS score half a band lower (overall or in one or two elements) than the standard entry criteria for your target degree programme, you can consider joining our pre-sessional English course.

Study areas that are popular with our undergraduate international students:

Postgraduate

We run Taught Master’s degree programmes (MA, MSc, PGCE), Master’s by research (MRes) and doctoral programmes (PhDs and Professional Doctorates).

Several courses, including our MBA (Master of Business Administration) programmes, also include the opportunity to undertake a placement to gain valuable work experience.

PhDs

If you would like to apply for a PhD at Edge Hill, please send in your research proposal to the Graduate School – [email protected].We will then liaise with the relevant academic department who will review the academic quality of the proposal. If the research proposal meets their requirements, they will check whether there is suitable supervision experience and capacity for the project. If there is a vacancy for a research student and if your proposal is accepted, you will be invited to attend an interview (this could be via Skype).You will then complete an application form and submit this with your supporting paperwork.

English language summer programme

Our English Language Summer Programme is for those who would like to improve their English.

We have been welcoming groups of international students to our beautiful campus for many years onto a range of summer programmes.

We offer English Language programmes for groups of students (see below for more details) together with a range of faculty led summer programmes in collaboration with our English speaking university partners from around the world.

Year-round English programme

Join Edge Hill University’s Language Centre to improve your English language. We offer a variety of courses that run throughout the year, including during the summer vacation. Whatever your current level of English, we deliver the support and expert tuition you need to get to where you want to be. Find out more by clicking the relevant link below.

Please note that the English Language Summer Programme is a package that includes accommodation in the fee. Students on other English Language Programmes will be asked to apply for accommodation separately.

If you are a home student interested in studying a language as part of your main degree, or on a supplementary basis, please find full details on the Language Centre website.

Foundation programmes

Our specially designed Fastrack and Foundation programmes are the perfect gateway to your study at a top UK university.

Fastrack

The Fastrack route  is designed for students without the correct qualifications for direct entry onto Undergraduate Programmes, or those who are returning to study. Fastrack gives students the confidence to study successfully in higher education. Successful completion of the Fastrack course will enable you to be considered for a place on a full-time degree at Edge Hill University in one of the complementary subjects, although places on specific degrees are subject to availability and cannot be guaranteed.

The Fastrack course is not available to international students who require a visa to study on their degree course.

IELTS requirements may vary and Fastrack does not include English Language tuition. If you are looking to improve your English Language for admission, you may want to consider our English Language courses.

STEM Foundation Year

The STEM Foundation Year provides the opportunity to study an integrated 4-year programme where you will complete a Foundation Year before progressing onto a degree in biology, computer science, computer engineering, or geography and geology, subject to passing all assessments.
