Specific entry requirements may differ for each programme, but the information below provides general requirements and some guidance. More information on specific courses can be found on our study pages. Each application is assessed on its own merit.
My experience is actually unique in that this is my 2nd study abroad to EHU, the first being a 3-month undergraduate study abroad and now completing my masters. The experience has obviously been really good, which I think comes in large part from the students, the staff, and this part of England.
High School diploma with a GPA of 2.75 or above and one of the following:
Four AP (Advanced Placement Programme) courses at grade 3 or above
Three AP courses at grade 4 or above
First Year of University/ College
Three SAT subject tests at 550 points – 1200/1600 in the SATR
ACT (overall average score 26)
If your application doesn’t quite meet the criteria above, it may be possible to join the fastrack programme or the International Foundation Programme.
International Baccalaureate (IB)
We are happy to accept students who have completed the International Baccalaureate (IB) qualification. We will use UCAS Tariff scores to assess a student’s suitability. Subject specific requirements at Higher Level (HL) Grade 5 may apply. For clarity of entry requirements for the course you’re interested in, please contact the International Office.
Postgraduate programmes
Degree awarded with minimum GPA of 2.75 from a recognised University.

I chose Edge Hill University as it offered an amazing opportunity to expand my knowledge of creative writing. The University is renowned for its faculty and visiting writers/guest speakers that the students are able to interact with on a personal level.
At first the teaching methods were a little different to what I was used to but as time went on I really enjoyed being able to work at a pace that was built for my speed. Tutors were always readily available and the staff from the International Office are welcoming, friendly, and always there if you’re in need.
Back home I’d been living outside of the campus so living on campus at Edge Hill helped me grow as a person and learn to accommodate others living nearby.
International students can take advantage of all of the amazing opportunities that the campus offers. I was lucky enough to join in with the Musical Theatre Society and sit in on Parados Production rehearsals, where I met the larger portion of my friends and even performed with them in a production of RENT.
I honestly enjoyed making as many friends as I did and being able to integrate myself into their lives. It is something that I will never be able to forget and I will cherish for the rest of our lives as we continue to grow and build our friendships.

The campus is extremely beautiful and modern and the people are so friendly. I felt quite welcome when I arrived at Edge Hill. I also liked its proximity to Ormskirk and was very pleased that access to the town was so simple.
It is an extremely lively social life. There’s something to do basically every day, and you’ll never be bored. People always want to go out, so it’s not really a stagnant social life here
I’ll miss the simplicity of simple life in this part of the country. I love walking past open fields filled with sheep and small country roads. Life back in America is much more hectic, so it has been great being able to slow down here. It has made me appreciate the simpler things in life. Also, most importantly, I’m going to miss the ducks.
Edge Hill is an amazing university, and anyone would be lucky to study here.

I remember driving up to the Hub on the first morning, and even through the exhaustion and jet lag falling in love with the campus. The mixture of modern conveniences and beautiful historical architecture has been a theme of my time here, and it was one of my defining features of my first impression with the Edge Hill campus. The International office staff that greeted us, both at the airport and on campus, were helpful, understanding, and kind. They worked hard to break the ice and get us feeling as comfortable as possible as quickly as they could.
Settling into life at EHU was fast and painless for me. I had a moment of panic the first time that I was alone, but because the International Office knows that students will feel this way, they do a good job keeping us busy on the first days. I truly appreciated the events they held, such as a welcome social and tours of Liverpool, as ways to introduce us to other students, to the local area, and England in general. They did a great job helping us to assimilate while also treating us like adults.
The best part of living here is that it’s not tourist-y. Because it’s fairly rural and quaint, you get a true taste of what life in England is, completely unfiltered.
The town of Ormskirk was just rustic enough to feel like the backdrop to a movie, and yet still lively enough to be a good time. Being close to Liverpool and Manchester are awesome because you get a taste of the city life, and can get cheap flights all around Europe. Also the local area is beautiful in a rugged way, and the trains are easy to figure out.

I chose Edge Hill University because of the school’s awesome scholastic and educational reputation. I had a few students from my home institution that studied at Edge Hill in prior semesters that had told me so many good things about the school so I applied.
The social life at Edge Hill University is probably one of the most social atmospheres I have seen. The Student Union will have events throughout the semester that students can attend that are fun and engaging. The Arts Centre has Friday moving screenings of current great films. And the SU Bar has a themed night each night that a ton of students always attend, I recommend going.
In my spare time I hung out with the friends I made and travelled. Almost every other weekend I travelled to another city in England. And when University was on holiday I travelled through cities in Europe.
What I enjoyed the most about living in Ormskirk/North West was the quiet atmosphere of the town, how close it was to Liverpool, and how easy it was to travel from Ormskirk to other places.
