Join our Teachers’ Reading Group, supported and sponsored by the Open University (OU) and the UK Literacy Association (UKLA).

Are you interested in:

  • Inspiring children to become life-long and engaged readers?
  • Enriching your knowledge of quality children’s books and other texts?
  • Having professional discussions around reading for pleasure?
  • Developing evidence-informed practice to use in the classroom?

Edge Hill University Teachers’ Reading Group warmly invites anyone committed to developing children’s desire, delight and engagement as readers to join us.

Student teachers, primary teachers, librarians, students and staff are welcome at our informal, friendly and supportive sessions. There will be opportunities to explore engaging resources and ideas to support you in all aspects of Reading for Pleasure pedagogy and nurturing young readers. No previous experience is need to get involved.

Key dates

The launch of the Teachers’ Reading Group will take place on Tuesday 15 October 2024 from 4-5pm in the Faculty of Education Lakeside building on our campus.

  • Session 2: Tuesday 10 December 2024
  • Session 3: Tuesday 28 January 2025
  • Session 4: Tuesday 4 March 2025
  • Session 5: Tuesday 6 May 2025
