The sum of an accountancy student’s hard work has amounted to top marks and an annual prize.
Joe Green has been awarded a Liverpool Society of Chartered Accountants (LSCA) prize for being the most outstanding third year accountancy student at Edge Hill University.
The 21-year-old BSc (Hons) Accountancy student from Preston said it was “a nice surprise” to be awarded the £100 prize alongside his First Class Honours degree.
He said: “Winning this award was surprising but I was so happy that my hard work over the last three years has been recognised.’’
“The course was fantastic and structured really well to help build your knowledge. I started with no background in accountancy so had to learn the basics and gradually widen my understanding as things progressed and became more complex.’’
“The lecturers who guided me through the course were very supportive and always happy to engage with students. Their doors were always open if we ever needed advice or support and that made a huge difference.”
Joe will be taking the first steps in his career later this year when he takes up a position with PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) in Manchester working in audit starting in September.
Senior lecturer Graham Bloor commended Joe on the achievement, adding: “It’s great to have the opportunity to congratulate Joe for being the most outstanding third year accountancy student at Edge Hill University.”
“At Edge Hill, we closely align the requirements of our accountancy programme to professional bodies like the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW). Joe will be undertaking an ICAEW training contract with PwC, and his degree studies at Edge Hill University will have given him a great start in preparing for his ICAEW professional exams.”
“Joe’s achievement in attaining a First Class Honours degree has been outstanding and it is fantastic to see him recognised by the ICAEW’s Liverpool Society of Chartered Accountants (LSCA), the oldest society of chartered accountants in the country.”
“We all wish him every success in his future career.”
