Students will come together on Thursday 9 November to celebrate their scholarship wins which reward achievements in areas including academic excellence, overcoming adversity, and helping and inspiring others.
Megan Davis, who is studying BA (Hons) Primary Education with QTS, will collect a University Scholarship in recognition of her work in Holocaust education, as an ambassador for the Holocaust Educational Trust and as a Student Academic Mentor.

“Winning a scholarship not only motivates you to work harder and wider but also reassures you that you are being seen, you are being heard and you are making a difference, which is more than I could ever ask for from a University.”

Megan hopes the scholarship will enable her to pursue her ambition to study a Masters.
This year’s winners also include:
- Lauren King – the Adam Bell Scholarship, named in memory of Edge Hill’s first scholarships administrator. This award is in recognition of Lauren’s remarkable enthusiasm and dedication in supporting students who are care-experienced or estranged from their families.
- Edward Horn – the Mark Flinn Award, founded by Mark, a former Pro Vice-Chancellor influential in the transformation of Edge Hill from a college to a university. The award recognises Edward’s research project bringing a regional perspective to Queer history in the UK.
- Rebecca Fearn – Rhiannon Evans Poetry Award, founded by Rhiannon who was a former University Pro Vice-Chancellor. The win will boost Rebecca’s self-belief and support her future writing.
- Michaela Hartley – Dame Janet Suzman Playwriting Prize, named after the stage actress and Edge Hill honorary doctor. The scholarship will help Michaela pursue her ambition to become a published author.
- Ten students will be awarded the University Scholarship which recognises students who raise Edge Hill’s profile or contribute to equal opportunities and diversity.
- Sixteen students will collect Sports Scholarships which aim to help enhance sporting performance.
- Thirty-two students are being awarded Excellence Scholarships in acknowledgement of their non-academic achievements.
- Four students will be awarded the Preparation for Higher Education Scholarship which recognises the best achievers on the Fastrack course, designed to support mature learners return to study.
- Thirty-seven undergraduates will receive Academic Achievement Awards in recognition of achieving the highest average marks in their department.
