The success recognises the University’s efforts to make moving in easy, fun and welcoming, and to ensure the cost of on-campus accommodation remains affordable.
The Global Student Living Awards, which cover Europe, and the UK and Ireland combined are based exclusively on direct feedback from tens of thousands of students about their student accommodation experience.
More than 100,000 students took part this year and the results identified Edge Hill as the best moving-in experience in the UK and Ireland, thanks to its well-organised practical support and welcoming staff and student helpers.
The best value for money win recognises the wrap around offer students at Edge Hill receive; from security, wellbeing, in-house maintenance, dedicated housekeeping, all bills included, dedicated accommodation support, and extensive on-campus social spaces such as the Sports Centre, Arts Centre and new Students’ Union.
Director of Facilities Management Adrian McGillion said: “It’s a huge achievement and honour to win an award that’s voted for by students, and a clear sign that we are getting our moving-in experience right.
“Staff from across the University work really hard in preparation for Welcome Weekend to ensure our students’ move into halls is as seamless as possible. These awards recognise the teams’ efforts to make Edge Hill a home from home.”
Head of Student Life Alison Clark added: “Moving in is so important: it’s the beginning of the student journey at Edge Hill and helping students get a great start shapes their successful future with us.”
The award wins follow Edge Hill’s largest-ever investment in accommodation: £23.6m has been spent 248 new ensuite rooms on the Ormskirk campus, in response to the increasing demand for campus-based living, in addition to a new Students’ Union and Life Sciences building.
Edge Hill offers a range of different halls to suit the needs of students and all first-years are guaranteed accommodation on campus. Find out more about living on campus or book a place at one of our upcoming Open Days on 2 and 23 November.
