Biography
Andrew Whittle spent twenty nine years with Merseyside Police and during that time had a varied career working in many specialist departments. The last 10 years of his career was spent in the training environment as a trainer with Merseyside Police as well as being seconded to National Police Training and Centrex. He is a qualified and experienced Training Development Officer, Diversity Trainer, Mentor, Coach and Assessor accredited with a number of professional bodies.In 2005 he ran one of the five Home Office pilot courses for the new Initial Police Learning and Development Programme. Following the success of this pilot he was then heavily involved in formulating and creating the new training programme for recruits joining Merseyside Police, and the subsequent Foundation Degree in Policing devised with Liverpool John Moores University. He was also a Franchise Lecturer with Liverpool John Moores University for three years between 2008 and 2011.
Andrew has been a member of the academic staff at Edge Hill University since 2011 and has worked as a Senior Lecturer in Further Education & Training, before joining the Law and Criminology Department in 2016 to lead on the new BA (Hons) Policing Degree.
