Student Support Team
The Student Support Team, based in the Catalyst, is here to support and offer advice to students across the University.
We can help you solve any problems you may be facing, help you navigate your way through any issues and connect you to the right support.
When should you contact us?
You can get in touch with us whenever you need to – we’re here for you throughout your time as an Edge Hill University student.
We have a range of appointment types including virtual, phone and in-person.
You can book an appointment with us online. How do we help you?
If you’re struggling to adapt to university life or are thinking of leaving, we’re available for you to contact and can help you make an informed decision that is right for you.
You can talk to us about any situation you might be in and how you’re feeling – we’ll give you practical support to help you manage things. Whether it’s signposting you to the right help, guiding you through a process, or referring you for specialist support; we provide you with ongoing support throughout your time at university.
On average we support over 400 new students each year here at Edge Hill.
Dedicated support
We are the dedicated team for Care Experienced and Estranged Students (CEES) (care leavers, care experienced, estranged students and those who have experience of supported foyer accommodation) and we’re here to guide you throughout your studies. We are also the dedicated contact for transgender students and young carers.
Hear from a student we’ve supported
I was in the care system, so when I came to Edge Hill on my applicant day, the Student Support Team got in touch with me. They gave me a hand-written card with information about the team which was great.
Unfortunately, when I moved here I had to go straight into isolation in my flat. This happened to be over my birthday and I ended up not being able to go home for over a month. I got in touch with the Student Support Team over this period because I was isolated on my own in a new place which was really tough.
I spoke to Jo from the team and she organised a number of phone calls with me to talk about things I enjoy and could do to pass the time during isolation. Jo and the team have kept in touch with me since and they’re always there if I have any questions or need advice. I even got a Christmas gift from them which made my day.
The team make sure you feel comfortable speaking to them and how you want to communicate is your decision. They’re really helpful and listen to what you have to say. I found them really approachable and easy to talk to about any problems I might be having.
