Information for apprentices
Our apprenticeship programmes are developed by employers, professional bodies and the University.
Degree apprenticeships allow you to work as an employee while you study part time. They combine academic study from a traditional university degree with practical on the job experience and employment skills you need for a successful career. Other benefits include:
- Career development, boosting earning potential
- Development of relevant skills to your sector, putting you ahead of the competition
- An affordable way to study because the government and your employer pays your tuition fees.
Each apprenticeship programme has programme-specific entry requirements. Please see our course pages for more information.
In addition, the government requires that all higher and degree apprentices demonstrate evidence of English and Maths qualifications at Level 2 (GCSEs at Grades 9-4 or A*-C, or equivalent) or above.
To study an apprenticeship at Edge Hill University, we require applicants to achieve these qualifications before starting their programme to give learners the best experience and chance of success.
Employers will be asked to ensure that applicants can provide evidence of these qualifications as part of the recruitment process.
To do a degree apprenticeship, you need to be employed and have lived in the EEA for 3 years (England is in the EEA) at the start of your apprenticeship. You must also have the right to work in the UK. We’ll check to make sure you’re eligible before you start your degree apprenticeship, and may ask for proof of your right to work in the UK.
Edge Hill University encourages apprentices to share disability or health related information with us so we can make the necessary reasonable adjustments for you to develop study strategies.
